Super Trucker Shawn

Shawn is Super Trucker now....well, minus a job. In his time being laid off, he has received these endorsements on his license: Doubles and Tripples (trailes), Tanker, and Hazmat. He also got his motorcycle license just so he has it all :) He is now super-qualified for any truck driving job out there. If only there was a job out there! We are very proud of him, though!

2008 Holiday Horse Parade

We went to Greenville's 5th annual Holiday Horse Parade tonight...it was like 30 degrees, but we all dressed in snow pants/carhartts and we stayed warm! The kids got to play on the fountain on the circle while we waited, so they were warm! It was nice...we came home and warmed up in front of our fireplace! Oh, and sorry I have no pics of the beautiful carriages...the pics didn't turn out very well!

IUEast it is!

I have had a very tough time trying to decide which college I will be attending for the next 7 years. Well, Shawn and I went to Wright State Lake Campus open house night and I was FINALLY able to make my decision! Wright State seemed to be more for straight-out-of-high-school-kids. For example, I was asked 4 times if I was a senior, and when I asked about the teacher program and taking time off if we have baby #3, and she rudely said, "Well, you will just have to take the whole year off!" So, Shawn and I discussed it, and we felt that they were supossed to be trying to get me, but it felt as though they were pushing me away. And ya know, I was sort of glad. It finally helped me make a decision! IUEast is where I was originally going to go anyways and it is the closest to home, and that is what is most important to me.
I have to say, I couldn't have gotten through this without Shawn's help! He knew that I was struggling, so one day he just sat down with me and we talked it over, talked pros and cons of both, and reviewed the programs each school offered. It still took a couple of weeks, but we figured it out together. He is a life saver to me. Just having his support and involvement makes school a possiblity for me! Without it, I do not think I would have gotten this far....gotta love my hubby!

Hair Cut

Well, we all went to the salon to get our hair trimmed, and Shawn sat down and started looking through hair style magazines. I planned on getting it trimmed, but Shawn said "this is the one", and gave her a pic. He said I had to because I have always talked about doing a short style, but never have. (Partly because he never wanted me to!) So anyways, I have a short style now :)
The back goes up real high, this pic is not the best view of it. Chey wanted to take my pic, but I didn't want more than one because I am still learning how to style it!
I ended up donating another 13 inches to Locks of Love!

Trick-or-Treat

Diesel was the UPS boy, Cheyanne was a clown (it was her dance review outfit). They got quite a bit of attention, I have to say. Shawn took the monster truck John Deere wagon and transformed it (temporarily) into the UPS truck. Diesel loved it because he could hide in there and eat every piece of candy that he was given! It was actually easier on us because we didn't have to chase him all over this way! They had fun, got a ton of candy, and I am glad it is all over (that crap is a lot of work!) We love the UPS truck, though! Thanks, Shawn!

My Induction

So, I got a letter in the mail inviting me to join Phi Thetta Kappa, which is a National Honor Society for 2 year colleges. I decided to go ahead and accept it, so we attended the induction ceremony. It is a high honor, as only the top 10% of the students are eligible. It is recognized nationally and it will go on my transcripts and on my resume. I had been named to the Dean's List two semesters in a row since I maintained a 4.0 GPA and that is why I got the invitation. It is a great organization, as I will be eligible for scholorships when I transfer to a four year school. (which is still undecided!) So, anyways, I just wanted to put out these pics from the evening to show that my family supported me and got to be a part of it!

Diesel and Potty Training

Diesel has big boy boxer briefs now! He has been going potty on the big potty for a little over a week. He is doing pretty good, but I feel like I am making it harder because we always have somewhere to go, so I have to use pull-ups with him for now when we leave. I feel like that is holding him back a little. He just pees in them. When we potty trained Cheyanne, we did it when we knew we would be home for a week straight so that we could focus on that and not have to take her out. He potties on the potty, but I have trouble getting him to sit long enough to get out a full pee! He keeps hopping off the potty mid-pee. Awful!!!!! He is just too energetic!!!

Cheyanne Is Reading!

Cheyanne read her first whole book today, at 4 years, 3months old! It is called Hot Dog, and it is 23 pages long. It is a beginner Reader book with words like: hot, cool, pool, girl, dog, chilly, etc. She can read it all, sound out all the words, and only needs help about 2 times throughout the whole book! I think she is doing great. She always surprises me, though, because I will work with her on something for a long time, then all at once she gets it! She had read a few pages at a time for a few months now, but this was the first time that she really showed the want to sit down and read the whole thing.
So besides the reading, she carries a tablet around the house and writes all kinds of words down. She asks me what day it is, then goes to the calendar and copies it down. She actually spelled "October" today all by herself....without looking at the word! She just says a word, then sounds it out and starts writing! She surprised me by that for sure. That is a pretty long word for her to spell!
Well, that is what Cheyanne has been up to lately!

5 Year Anniversary

So, Hubby and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary on Saturday. It was awsome. It started weeks ago when I started the planning (I am such a planner!). I was so worried that I would not come up with anything creative to do or give. Well, I ended up finding plenty, and being his wonderful self, hubby had some ideas, too. The week before, he asked me what I had planned for our 'big day' (which happened to fall on a Sat.!). I didn't want to tell him because it was kinda suppossed to be a surprise, but he said he had some things planned, too, so we didn't want to interfere with each others' plans. So, I told him, and it was so cute cause he had planned the same things! Plus, he was actually excited about what we planned! Here's how our day went:

We woke up and took the children to their Grandpa's. They absolutely love it there (huge house, plenty of room to run, and they hardly ever get to go, so they were excited). That was part of what we both had planned. He said he wanted them to go there because we both knew that we would not worry about them while we were gone (great minds think alike!) Then we went and got breakfast, ate it in the park, and went golfing. Oh, I guess I should tell you that the traditional anniversary gift for 5 year is wood, so that is what I planned all the activities around. First was the breakfast in the park in the woods, then the golf. We had a gorgeous day for it.....we had fun! Then we went and bought a tree and planted it in the backyard. After that, we came home and I got pretty while he got a nap, which are two activities we never do with kids in the house! I packed our bags and we went out of town, about 45 minutes away, and checked into our hotel. This had been his idea...he said I needed to get away from my house work and school work and just relax....he is so thoughtful :) So, we got a room with a jacusi tub right beside the bed......awsome. Then we went to lunch at Panera Bread (my favorite!), and then went to see Fireproof. Everyone must go see...with your hubby! I cried....and cried, which is pretty abnormal for me. I think it just had such special meaning and such geat 'advice' if that's what you wanna call it! He thought it was pretty good, too...it had him laughing a few times:) After the movie, we walked back to our room, then to Texas Roadhouse (so fancy, I know, but that is his favorite). It was just nice that we could walk...everything was right there. We went back to our room and he got a 5 minute massage, then we got in the hot tub. I had taken our wedding music, our unity candle, and bottle of wine from the wedding. We both loved it, had a great day. The only gift I got him was a bottle of cologne, but ya know, it was the meaning of the day and the 'wood' activities that we will remeber.

The greatest part of our day....we love each other this same way every day. Every single day is special with my hubby. I am very blessed to have such a wonderful man!
